Tour Stop: Blog tour for Dead Harvest by Tracet Phillips and Jeanette Battista. Character Interview and GIVEAWAY

Today I’m really pleased to be a stop for The Dead Harvest Blog Tour. I’ve got a character interview and a giveaway at the end.

Dead Harvest by Tracey Phillips and Jeanette Battista .

Someone’s been raising the dead and it’s J’s job to find out who. As a detective operating in the Underworld, J—with her powers of shadow manipulation—is uniquely equipped for the job. What she isn't counting on is the help of an escapee from a mental institution who seems to attract trouble just by existing.

It’s up to J and T—two very unlikely allies—to find the necromancer and bring him before the Underworld Balance Magistrate for judgment before the human world gets wise to the dead walking among them .

T is one of the 2 leads of the book - an escapee from a mental institution with weird powers and an odd outlook on life (to put it mildly). The UBM (short for Underworld Balance Magistrate) is an ancient hellgod tasked with making sure all of the creatures of the Underworld don't break the Balance by running amok Above and letting humans know that monsters exist. He is also immensely powerful and evil, but in that mellow way where you're not sure what's happening until you find yourself being flayed and set on fire. J (the other lead, and an Underworld native) is rightly wary of the UBM. T thinks he's kinda shouty (he talks in all caps), but otherwise an okay guy. T is, as usual, very, very wrong. Five Questions with the Underworld Balance Magistrate, by T.

 The Interview
I'm here with the Big Cheese himself, the Underworld Balance Magistrate, who has agreed to answer five questions about the Underworld, the Balance, and being the Magistrate. Well, actually this isn't a formal interview. It's just a transcript of five questions that I asked him (and taped the answers to) over a period of weeks when J and I went to meet him about different cases. He would probably get all weird about it if I told him I wanted to do an interview, so let's just keep this between us, okay? He's really touchy about this whole Balance thing.

1. How did you get to be Magistrate, anyway?
YOU ARE NEW HERE, SO I WILL HUMOR YOU. I ASCENDED TO THIS POSITION IN THE USUAL WAY, BY OUTMANEUVERING MY PREDECESSOR.

2. Oh, so you won an election?
NO. I ATE HIM AFTER A FIVE-DAY PITCHED BATTLE INVOLVING MAGIC, TROLLS, AND THE JUDICIOUS USE OF FIRE. HE WAS DELICIOUS, IF A BIT FATTY.

3. So what do you do all day?
I DECIDE WHO TO LET LIVE.

4. What's up with this Balance deal, anyway?
IF THE BALANCE IS NOT KEPT, BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN TO EVERYONE IN THE UNDERWORLD, INCLUDING ME AND YOU. THINK "'END OF DAYS, FIERY CATACLYSM" TYPE BAD THINGS.

5. But you're the most powerful being in the Underworld. What's out there that could inflict that kind of damage on you?
(SILENT GLARE). What, you don't know? (EYES NARROW, GLARE INTENSIFIES, TEMPERATURE IN ROOM GETS INEXPLICABLY HOTTER)

Well that doesn't make any sense....what? Oh, J says we have an urgent call to get to, so we really have to go now...Ow! You don't have to grab my arm that hard, J. I'll bruise! So, um, see you around, Magistrate-ness!

Eeks, this Underworld Balance Magistrate sounds incredibly creepy. Run T. Run

I adore the YA genre, but i do also love everything fantasy, paranormal, sci-fi and 'different' including adult books too. This really does sound like a facinating read. x
